EGT STEM (Empowering Girls Through STEM) is a free all-girls coding and robotics class that actively works to make a difference in our community. We are located at The Smart Scribe tutoring center, 2000 Grand Ave Baldwin NY, and have lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 pm-2 pm. Our Mission: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is used to solve the world's greatest issues. Unfortunately, due to a lack of female representation in this ever-evolving field, the STEM field lacks the diverse minds needed to solve the problems of a diverse world. EGT STEM actively works to solve this problem by lowering the gender gap in the STEM field. Through the use of hands-on activities and organized lesson plans, we aim to increase female involvement in the STEM field by sparking interest from a young age. In order to achieve this goal, EGT STEM is completely free and all girls between the ages of 8-13 years old are welcome. We will provide our students with all the in-class resources that they need to fall in love with STEM. EGT STEM equips young girls with the basic knowledge that they will need to succeed in the STEM field and empowers girls to make a difference in their society.
About the Founder: My name is Breanna Henry and I am a rising senior at Baldwin High School. STEM has been a passion of mine from a young age. I have spent much time developing this passion by working at various STEM internships, taking coding classes at Adelphi University, attending multiple engineering and coding camps over the summer, participating in the STEM academy at my school, and much more. Now, I want to give back to my community by sharing my passion with others. By doing so I hope to inspire a new generation of girls to be actively involved in the STEM field.
